Ergo Assessments
Innovative Computer Environments
offers workstation evaluations so companies can assess the ergonomic issues in
their office. During the workstation evaluation ICE will observe the employee
to:
-
Identify risk factors
-
Improve workstation design
-
Enhance work habits and equipment use
ICE will demonstrate to the employee the correct placement of their chair,
keyboard, mouse and computer monitor based on the individual’s work process.
Engineering intervention such as new equipment and/or behavioral intervention
may be recommended. The importance of micro-breaks, proper posture and
stretches will be discussed as an important part of reducing musculoskeletal
disorder risk factors.
The report follows a checklist format that specifies workstation
configuration and the end user’s work habits. Recommendations for corrective
action on workstation/work habit deficiencies are included in the report.
Seating (feet properly supported on the floor or with a footrest, backside of
the thigh supported correctly, lower back supported, proper seat pan length,
proper arm rest height, seat height adjustment), keyboard/mouse placement
(forearms at 90 degrees or greater, mouse location, neutral wrist, keying/mouse
force), monitor placement (viewing distance and angle, reflections or glare,
visual comfort) as well as work habits and workstation configuration are
documented in the written report. The report can be used for office ergonomic
data tracking.
Workstation evaluations are conducted utilizing the multidisciplinary science
of ergonomics that include physiology, anthropometric data and biomechanics. |
